Our story began in 1947 when a group of well-known filmmakers, brought together by producer Sir Alexander Korda, formed the British Film Academy. Their idea – to create an organisation that would “advance the art and technique of film".

The Holdovers won two categories: Supporting Actress for Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Casting. Anatomy of a Fall won Original Screenplay. American Fiction won Adapted Screenplay.
London, 2 June 2020: At last night’s digital AGM, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) confirmed Krishnendu Majumdar as its new Chair. In doing so, Majumdar becomes the first person of colour to be appointed to the role in BAFTA’s 73 year history and the youngest chair in 35 years.
