Nigerian music star Yemi Alade has declared herself a winner after losing the Grammy Award to fellow artise Tems. The self-proclaimed “Mama Africa” attended the prestigious event adorned in an Edo-inspired traditional outfit, celebrating her heritage and making a bold fashion statement.

Yemi Alade looked gorgeous as she attended the 2025 Grammy Award in an Edo cultural outfit. She combined her attire with accessories and got accolades from her fans.

In an emotional Grammy-award-acceptance speech on Sunday evening, Nigerian singer Tems said her "heart was beating so fast". She saw off the likes of Yemi Alade, Burna Boy and Wizkid to take home the Best African Music Performance prize for her hit Love Me Jeje.

This year, eight Nigerian-based artists are nominated, with Tems and Yemi Alade standing as the women among them.

Nigerian afrobeats star Tems has won her second Grammy with her hit "Love Me JeJe", seeing off a line-up heavily dominated by Nigerian artists vying for "Best African Musical Performance". Tems and Drake won a Grammy in 2023 with "Wait for U".
