A dog owner whose XL bully attacked a police officer in Leicestershire has been jailed. The officer was inside a property in Lewis Close, Ibstock, for "less than a minute" when the dog got through a kitchen door,

A man has been jailed for owning an XL bully which attacked a 12-year-old girl. Justin Allison, 38, was jailed for a total of three years for owning a banned breed of dog, being in charged of a dog that was dangerously out of control and possessing a knife.

The 51-year-old pleaded not guilty to having possession of or being in custody of a banned XL Bully at Dol Dalis in Lampeter on 29 June last year. Fox is due to stand trial on the charge at Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court on 1 May. He was remanded on unconditional bail until date.

Police have spent more than £11 million kennelling banned dog breeds since the ban came into force in February as it can cost around £1,000 a month to keep an XL bully in kennels.
