OpenAI, known for its ChatGPT chatbot, today submitted AI recommendations to the Trump administration, calling for deregulation and policies

OpenAI is calling on the U.S. government to adopt a copyright policy that allows training of AI models on IP-protected data.

OpenAI is hoping that Donald Trump's AI Action Plan, due out this July, will settle copyright debates by declaring AI training fair use—paving the way for AI companies' unfettered access to training data that OpenAI claims is critical to defeat China in the AI race.

The company argues in favor of eliminating more restrictive state regulations, and “preserving American AI models’ ability to learn from copyrighted material.”
