The Court of Arbitration for Sport was set to hear the case in April, but on February 15, WADA announced Sinner had accepted a three-month suspension to settle the case. Since then, Sinner has been unable to compete in or attend any official tournament. He also cannot train at clubs or facilities affiliated with a tennis federation.

The nomination of Jannik Sinner for the Laureus sportsman of the year award has been withdrawn because of the top-ranked tennis player’s three-month ban for his two positive doping tests nearly a year ago.

Last Saturday, it was announced that the world's best player, Jannik Sinner, had negotiated a settlement with the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) over offences committed last March, and would be banned for just three months.

Jannik Sinner has accepted a three-month ban after WADA concluded the Italian did not intend to cheat. Sinner's innocence appears less important than the process.
