Texas Tech star pitcher Nijaree Canady will start in the WCWS championship opener Wednesday despite a sore left hamstring she has been dealing with since February, her coach confirmed Tuesday.

Texas Tech star NiJaree Canady has been playing most of this season with a left hamstring injury, which she first suffered in February. Canady mentioned she first suffered the injury in the preseason, but she it doesn't feel as bad as it should.
