A man who fell into a massive sinkhole in South Korea’s capital has been found dead, officials confirmed on Tuesday. The motorcyclist was riding in the Gangdong district when the road collapsed beneath him at around 2:30 PM on Monday. Rescuers discovered his body approximately 50 metres (164ft) from where he fell the next day.

According to The Chosun Daily and The Korea Times, the sinkhole opened at the Daemyeong Elementary School intersection in Myeongil-dong, a neighborhood in the Gangdong-gu district. The motorcyclist then fell into the hole as he rode over it.
