There is a lack of competition for starting roles around the diamond for the Cubs, but building up the depth behind the main cast has remained a priority for the front office as Spring Training looms.

The Astros have asked veteran reliever Ryan Pressly to approve a trade to the Cubs, multiple sources told MLB.com on Friday. Pressly has yet to waive his no-trade clause despite a report that a trade was “on the verge” of being completed Thursday night.
