After a winter storm moved through and dumped several inches of snow across East Tennessee, state agencies are now warning about the possibility of roadways becoming dangerous. Mark Nagi with the Tennessee Department of Transportation said crews will add to the mixture used on roads to help lower the freezing point.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation and the Blount County Highway Department are getting their equipment ready to go out in the elements.

Snow is creating seriously hazardous conditions on the roadways across East Tennessee. Several areas have activated snow plans, which means authorities are closely monitoring calls for service and officers are out in pairs to respond to priority calls.

The preparations to make our roads safe are already underway. TDOT regional communications officer Mark Nagi shares how the agency is preparing.

More winter weather is coming to East Tennessee. Freezing temperatures are forecast to continue for the region and "heavy snowfall" is expected on Jan. 10. This is part of the significant winter storm that will impact the entire Volunteer State and much of the Mid-South.
