Luigi Mangione’s attorneys want a federal judge to restrain Attorney General Pamela Bondi from making statements that could prejudice a jury against the Towson native charged with murdering

The Justice Department has pushed for the death penalty against Mangione, who is accused of shooting and killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson last year.

Each death penalty case is autho­rized by the DOJ headquarters in Washington, D.C., in con­sul­ta­tion with local U.S. Attorney offices, who prosecute the cases.
