CalFire released a new map this week, expanding hazardous fire zones in Northern California. It's part of Governor Gavin Newsom's executive order after the Los Angeles fires. Updated for the first time since 2007,

Cal Fire released updated fire hazard maps for dozens of cities and towns in inland Northern California. All but one saw an increase in the number of acres in zones with heightened fire safety regulations.

Cal Fire's new maps show Auburn increased its very high severity zone acreage to 800 this year compared to 326 acres a decade ago.

Approximately 1.4 million acres of land were added into the two highest fire hazard severity tiers on newly updated CAL FIRE maps.
