John Lithgow is in talks to play Albus Dumbledore in HBO’s upcoming adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter” books, Variety has confirmed with sources. In the books, and in the film adaptations, Dumbledore is the caring but mysterious headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
John Lithgow to Play Dumbledore in Harry Potter TV Series
Professor Albus Dumbledore was portrayed by Richard Harris in the first two Harry Potter films. After Harris’ passing in 2002, Michael Gambon took over the role for the remaining six movies. Jude Law later played a younger version of the character in the Fantastic Beasts film series.
