Donald Trump is set to return to the Capitol Building as he prepares for his second inauguration as president of the United States.Mr Trump will succeed Joe Biden in the White House from January 20, when he takes the oath of office in Washington D.

Donald Trump will return to Washington on Saturday to kick off days of pageantry to herald his second inauguration as president, four years after he departed the city under the shadow of an attack by his supporters on the US Capitol.

Trump's second inauguration day will begin with a service at St John's Church, Lafayette Square, a historic Washington DC church, followed by tea at the White House. Musical performances and opening remarks are set to begin at 09:30 EST (14:30 GMT).

Trump will attend a signing room ceremony, followed by an inaugural luncheon in Statuary Hall. He then will review the troops on the east front of the Capitol. The parade will take place in Capitol One Arena, where Trump has invited attendees to also watch the swearing in ceremony.
