The Montreal Canadiens are on quite the resurgence as of late. The Canadiens were ripped for regressing earlier in the season. However, captain Nick Suzuki and his team have turned things around in a massive way.

On Saturday night in Nashville, the Caps finish up a weekend set of back-to-back games and their 2024-25 season’s series with the Nashville Predators. Back on Nov. 6 in Washington, the Caps prevailed by a 3-2 count in the first meeting between the two clubs this season.

Albert Johansson scored his first NHL goal, Andrew Copp and Marco Kasper added goals and Cam Talbot made 23 saves. Patrick Kane had three assists.

The Washington Capitals did what they could and escaped with a point, but recent struggles were on display again in a tough loss to the Montreal Canadiens. Lars Eller and Jakob Chychrun scored, but Nick Suzuki had the overtime winner in a 3-2 loss.

Chychrun gave the Capitals a 1-0 lead during a power play at 2:56 of the first period. He intercepted Jake Evans' clearing attempt at the blue line, skated to the top of the slot and beat Dobes glove side with a wrist shot.

When the Ottawa Senators traded Jakob Chychrun for Nick Jensen and a third-round pick, there was a duality to the announcement. On the one hand, it was hard to blame fans who looked at the opportunity cost used to acquire Chychrun and wondered if that was all the Senators could fetch for the 26-year-old defender.
