Slovakia currently meets the NATO target of spending 2% of GDP on defence, but is reluctant to increase this despite growing pressure to do so. On Wednesday, Defence Minister Robert Kaliňák (Smer-SD/NI) reiterated that Slovakia does not intend to increase its defence budget beyond the 2%.
