Spain has denied involvement in talks between Venezuelan opposition leader Edmundo Gonzalez and President Nicolas Maduro's government for his flight to Spain, before which he signed a letter saying he accepted Maduro's election victory.

The Biden administration has responded with relative quiescence to recent setbacks in its effort to overthrow President Nicolás Maduro, prioritizing the uninterrupted flow of oil.

Edmundo González, who is widely considered to have won July’s disputed presidential election, was facing an arrest warrant.

Venezuela's opposition leader said he was forced into signing a letter recognizing President Maduro's victory earlier this month.
