US-listed shares of tech giants Nvidia, TSMC, and others are gaining some lost ground after China's DeepSeek rattled stock markets.

DeepSeek just shook up the artificial intelligence (AI) world in the biggest way since OpenAI launched ChatGPT in late 2022. The Chinese company's new R1 large language model (LLM) reportedly matches or beats OpenAI's o1 model on some benchmarks.

Nvidia staged a moderate rebound on Tuesday, rising as much as 3%, following a 17% drop the prior day. More broadly, major US indexes rallied after S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 saw sharp losses on Monday amid concerns over the Chinese AI firm DeepSeek rapid and cost-effective advances.
