Anzac Day commemorates anniversary of first major military action by Australian and New Zealand Army Corps during World War I

In a key episode on April 25, 1915, thousands of troops from the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) took part in an ill-fated amphibious invasion by British Empire forces on the area's narrow beaches. Today, Anzac Day honours all Australian and New Zealand troops who have served in conflict.

Australia and New Zealand marked the 110th anniversary of the day when many of their troops perished in an unsuccessful World War I campaign. A small group of hecklers disrupted the services in Melbourne and Perth.
