Apopka leaders have hired an engineering firm to investigate after a suspected sinkhole opened up underneath a pump in a city retention pond that is used to store reclaimed water, the mayor said.

A large hole that opened up under a Groveland home has forced several families to evacuate. The ground depression opened Saturday night and crews are still monitoring its growth on Monday.
