RICHMOND, Va. (WDBJ) - After a successful season, the William Fleming girl’s basketball team falls one win shy of a Class 5 VHSL state championship, losing to undefeated Princess Anne 70-28.

The VHSL state basketball championships tipped off it’s three day run at VCU’s Seigel Center in Richmond. First the William Fleming Colonels girls basketball team faced Princess Anne High School. WFXR Sports Director Jermaine Ferrell caught up with the Colonels after their 70-28 loss in the class 5 state championship.

Princess Anne’s girls basketball team has done it again, and it was bigger and better than ever. The Cavaliers won their 15th girls basketball state championship, taking Virginia High School League Class 5 title by overpowering William Fleming (25-4) on their way to a 70-28 win Thursday at the Siegel Center
