The 105th annual New York City Veterans Day Parade took place along Fifth Avenue, stretching from 26th Street to 46th Street. The parade, one of the largest in the country, drew thousands of spectators to honor military veterans. It featured marching bands, military units, and veterans’ organizations.

The parade’s highest honoree is Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer, a Marine. According to the nonprofit United War Veterans Council, he is recognized for his valor in the Afghanistan War, in which he defied orders and went into a particularly dangerous area to help save American and Afghan troops who had gone missing, and in the Iraq War.

The 105th annual Veterans Day Parade starts at 12:30 p.m. from 26th Street and Fifth Avenue and heads north until ending at 47th Street.
