The Michigan State women’s basketball team didn’t stand much of a chance on Monday, routed in its second-round NCAA Tournament appearance. The seventh-seeded Spartans suffered their worst loss of the season, losing 83-49 to host North Carolina State in Raleigh, N.C.

Grace VanSlooten recorded a second straight double-double and had 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead MSU, which closes the season with a 22-10 record. VanSlooten was the only player in double figures scoring for the Spartans, who were held to a season-low in points.

For the second time in the 2025 NCAA Tournament, Michigan State basketball took a major punch in the first half from a feisty opponent but was able to pull away in the second half. In the Round of 32, the Spartans beat New Mexico 71 to 63 after going into halftime down to the Lobos.
