GREENBELT, Md. ― In a blow to the Trump administration, a federal judge ruled Friday the U.S. government acted illegally when it mistakenly deported a Maryland father to El Salvador and ordered that he must be returned to the United States.

An “administrative error” that led to a Maryland man being deported to a brutal prison in El Salvador as part of Donald Trump’s immigration policy has thrust Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia into the national spotlight.

The wife of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who the Trump administration admitted to mistakenly deporting to El Salvador, said she fears for his life in the infamous maximum-security prison where he's being held alongside some of the country's most dangerous criminals.
