U.S. stocks were mixed after the close on Friday, as gains in the Utilities, Telecoms and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher while losses in the Industrials, Basic Materials and Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.

The Dow Jones is inching back into record highs on Friday. The index continues to find play above 42,000 in the post-Fed glut. The Dow Jones stock index rose up to 100 points, or 0.25%, during Friday trading.

U.S. stocks rose after the Federal Reserve lowered its benchmark interest rates by 50 basis points to a range of 4.75% to 5%. That was the first rate cut in over four years that marked the beginning of a monetary-easing cycle in the world's largest economy.
