Karmelo Anthony, 17, who allegedly stabbed Metcalf in the heart at the Frisco athletic event last week, is protected from death row — and even life without parole — by the Supreme Court due to his age, Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis told WFAA.
The teen accused of stabbing track star Austin Metcalf to death will not face life behind bars or the death penalty, according to a Texas district attorney.
Police have not said what led to the stabbing, but Austin Metcalf's father said it started when his sons and members of the Memorial High track team questioned Anthony about why he was standing near them instead of his own school's team.
The attorney for Karmelo Anthony, the 17-year-old accused of murdering football star Austin Metcalf at a Texas track meet, insists he doesn’t have “any reason” to think the killing “wasn’t in self defense” — and will request the teen’s bond be lowered from $1,000,000.
The family of Austin Metcalf will not be doing any more interviews as they ask fo privacy amid buring their loved one.
