Hi, We went on a Wednesday evening in June and it took us about 1 hour to see this Museum. It's was very hot and the Museum didn't have air conditioned, so I think we rushed a bit, but if you are going at 6 pm, I think it's plenty of time, depending if it's your first Natural History Museum or not.
Hey! Do you need to purchase a ticket in advance or can you just turn up? Is there any risk of being turned away if you don't purchase ahead of time. Thanks!

My advice is if you can wear it, then take it off as you start to go around, as we did it will not be a problem. But yes they do ask you to place your jackets and bags (we kept our phones) in a locker which in the Natural History Museum was free all that was said was that we could leave a tip. Enjoy your visit it will be worth while.
