There is an elevator you can access in the info center/gift shop. The center is along the far back wall when you enter inside the citadel. Start there for info too.

They changed the guard just as we got there as we had to wait outside until it was finished. It must have been around 11am at a guess. We saw the canon being fired at noon and we had …
They changed the guard just as we got there as we had to wait outside until it was finished. It must have been around 11am at a guess. We saw the canon being fired at noon and we had walked part of the Walls by then. I am sure they have a website where times can be confirmed. I expect the guard is changed every hour, the soldiers are students from the university so not expected to stand as long as professional soldiers.

I looked up the citadel web site to glean this information. On a sunny day the views from the citadel are spectacular and it's easy to imagine how attractive this site must have been to the British troops. Take a camera.............
