"Almost 1" is probably a bit young. There are certainly some "ball and block" things that they would enjoy, but they would have to be in there mixing it up with the 2-4 year olds. Can be kind of stressful...for the parents/grandparents, that is.
Looking at some of the photos from prior visitors, it looks like the museum is geared towards smaller children. I have a 10 and soon to be 8 year old. Would they enjoy it?

I believe so. The exhibits allow for a a range of interaction depending upon age and knowledge.
